“Stick and stones may break my bones, but school transfers will never hurt me!!!”
I don’t know who said it, but I’d reckon that you will find at least one of them this Saturday when the two fighting school districts come together for a last ditch meeting. The fact that this has been drawn out like it has, is unbelievable. I really don’t have a problem with the Independence School District. It appears that they are just doing their part to get going so the kids will have a place to go in the fall.
The KCMO school district is another story. They can’t even turn over these schools without there being a fight. I think I have kind of figured the KCMOSD out. I think that after all these years, it is really starting to become clear what the problem is. I’m ready to share that with you. (Drumroll, please)
The Kansas City Missouri School District gets an educational erection when they are in the courtroom.
This school district has forgotten that the reason they exist is to educate the kids that come through the doors. I don’t know if the desegregation (shame on you, racist Kansas City) case of decades gone by has anything to do with it or not. To me, it just seems like the district doesn’t feel that it is doing it’s job unless it is mired in some kind of legal limbo about something. You know, some people just love a fight.
We really have to do something. It is gotten way out of hand. The KCMO school system is a laugher, at best. Then, it gets to the point where it isn’t even funny anymore. We have passed that point. Either the board needs to be unseated or the people in the administrative offices need to take a hike.
Maybe both.
Either way, the two districts will hook up on Saturday to try to work out a timely exchange (next Monday) of the 7 schools that Independence will gain. What’s so hard about handing over some keys and telling them that the faucet might be broke in the boys bathroom on the 2nd floor? Where is the struggle in just letting go?
I hope these two school districts can settle this before it gets moved to the courtroom….again.
You kinda feel like it’s 3:30 PM and they’re in the back alley of the school.
“I dare you,” one says.
“I double dare you,” the other replies.
“I double dog dare you,” the first responds.
Punches are thrown.
Will keys be exchanged?
To be continued…..
