What? No NBA coming to KC? No way!!!

Way.

I try to leave the Sprint Center bashing to Tony, but I have to squeeze this one in on you…especially since everyone else is spreading a little of that love lotion on KC right now.  The Sprint Center has to be the most expensive concert auditorium ever built in these United States.  Lucky for me, I wasn’t in KC when all this talk began about building an arena downtown.  I managed to get here and those balls were already in motion.

After being blueballed by the NHL for a while, Kansas City continues to be a sucker for Lewinsky punishment as the NBA has given us the “don’t call us, we’ll call you” line.  I don’t know, but leaders in this city has to be the biggest bunch of suckers that there are.  While we’re on this, I can’t exempt you “surrounding areas” either.  I won’t name you because I don’t have the time to get off track, but you guys are the main patrons to the Sprint Center.  You’re quick to talk about how the ‘city’ is a bunch of fools, but last time I checked (Herm Edwards), I don’t see you building anything worth drawing a team to town either.

The NBA Finals begin on Thursday and all of the basketball junkies will set their sights on Los Angeles and Boston.  The Kansas City Kings are still in Sacramento (as if that city is light years ahead of this BBQ town).   They have not gone under.  They even fielded a few good teams a few years ago.  However, the closest you are reminded that they came from KC is when they do the throwback/vintage jersey night.  Other than that, no one would know that they didn’t start out at the Arco Arena.

Oklahoma City is poised to get the next NBA team.  That’s horrible for us and good for them.  They’ve proved their worth by rallying everyone in town to present a unified package to perspective franchises.  What do we do here in KC?  We draw lines in the sand (counties) and dare to cross them.  Until this city and the surrounding “entitled” areas all get on the same page, no team in their right mind will come to this city.

Thus, you’ll be forced to taking in a tired concert or having to suffer through watching the Brigade get “blowed” to pieces at the Sprint Center.  Mega thanks to AEG and Kay Barnes for this post.  For without you, the ONLY bag we’d be holding right now is that waste of money that we’re spending out at the Truman Sports Complex and getting no return (on the field) from it.

Not ready to be the moral of the story yet….KC is fast becoming the suckers of the nation like the Alabama mosquito is the champion of the West Nile virus here in the US.

  • Oklahoma City isn’t getting a team because of a unified effort. They are maybe getting a team because someone from Oklahoma bought them, and they served as a nice break for a team that still played half its games in a completely destroyed city.

Not to mention, there is no other sports competition in OKC, so it makes sense for them to do something there.
