Jayhawks season ended after Roy

The main reason that there was dancing in the streets last night had to be because the jayhawks destroyed Roy Williams.  It isn’t about the Tar Heels.  Oh no, the birds wanted to drop some white out on Roy’s head.  They did just that.

The buildup and reaction to the game caused me great concern because you can tell that their season is now complete.  What I don’t understand is all the talk and articles talking about 5 years of misery and pain.  Uh, I don’t think those first round bounceouts by Butler and Bradley had anything to do with Roy Williams and his desire to get a job “close to home”.

It turns out that when I questioned Jayhawk fan this week about their disdain for Williams, the answer was that Roy said he’d never leave them nor forsake them.  Then, they say, he left the following year.  Okay.  I can’t imagine anyone else making that move.  Oh no.  Everything we say is etched in stone, right?

Well, the Memphis State Tigers are a bunch of playground ballers.  They don’t have a set offense.  Their game plan is the same one that I used to be a part of on the streets of urban Kansas City.  It’s the same game plan that polished my sweet left handed jumper.  The same style of play that allowed me to put daggers into the hearts of opponents.  It’s called, Ballin’.

If you’ve watched Memphis, you’ve seen that they are nothing but a bunch of ballerz.  They are an AAU team on steroids.  They aren’t the most academically sound team around.  You won’t find a bunch of Academic All-Americans on that squad.  You will find a group of playground-hardened basketball players.  They are like a bunch of Saturday night dates.  They spread you wide and then penetrate hard to the hole.  If they are defended, they will kick out for the long bomb.

It will be a great game, no doubt.  I don’t have a rooting interest other than the fact that I don’t want to see a 20 point blowout.  The tournament up to yesterday was one with some tight finishes.  That’s what makes March special.

It’s been a good ride for KU, but they lost track of winning it all once they saw that they’d run into Roy Williams in the Final Four.  That game, I’m afraid, became their championship trophy.  Just like the ugly girl who was dumped had always pined to show up her dumper one day.  When she got the chance, it made her feel like she was a million dollars.

Even if it was Monolopy million.
